What is Rudrakhsa?
Rudraksha is the seed of the fruit from the Elaeocarpus ganitrus tree. It is traditionally used as a prayer bead in Hinduism, especially by devotees of Shiva. The word “Rudraksha” comes from Sanskrit:
* Rudra = a name of Shiva
* Aksha = tears or eyes
According to Hindu tradition, rudraksha beads originated from the tears of Lord Shiva that fell to the Earth and grew into trees.
